Matthew | 28 years old | Junior Business Analyst

Please introduce yourself briefly: Who are you and how did you come to iSYS?

I’m originally from Belize, a small country in the Caribbean. I joined the British Army when I was 18. I was sent to Germany straight after my basic training, where I spent the rest of my military career. After leaving the army, I decided to study Data Science at a distance learning university in the UK. I really like data science as I always think very analytically, if sometimes a bit over-analytically. My former job at a food delivery service allowed me to analyse business processes with data on an almost daily basis and improve them where necessary. That’s why I was very interested in working at iSYS.

What are your tasks at iSYS?

As a Business Analyst, I am responsible for identifying, communicating and managing stakeholder requirements. These requirements have to be explained to our development team in an understandable way, which is also part of my role. I am currently supporting an external customer project. I have to maintain and manage the backlog for a product offered by iSYS on a daily basis. This means a lot of customer contact, as the problem, which arrives in the form of a ticket, has to be discussed first. We then analyse the problem as a team and make suggestions for improvement. It is important that the customer is always satisfied with our product.

What excites you most about your job?

What I enjoy most about my role as a Business Analyst is the amount of customer contact. I am very sociable and I really enjoy being in constant dialogue with customers. I’m also pleased that I can always learn something new. This adds a lot of variety to the job and I find that very interesting.

What can new team members expect when they join iSYS?

iSYS definitely offers a very pleasant working environment. The flat hierarchy is what I like the most. I also like the fact that there are so many very experienced colleagues around me who I can take a leaf out of my book!

What do you do in your free time?

I study a lot as I have not yet completed my distance learning programme. I also enjoy playing music and going to the theatre. I also read a lot, preferably in my hammock.

And finally, would you like to share a playlist with us?
