For more sustainability: iSYS uses green electricity
The term ‘green electricity’ implies that 100 per cent of the electricity comes from renewable energy sources such as wind and hydropower, biogas and photovoltaics. The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation. According to the Federal Environment Agency, the generation of electricity from renewable energies avoided the emission of 221 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents in 2021. We want to play our part in further reducing these emissions.
But not all green electricity is the same: not all green electricity providers are committed to the expansion of renewable energies in Germany. If a provider sells electricity from coal-fired power alongside green electricity, or imports green electricity from abroad, this does little to increase renewable energies in the German electricity grids.
To recognise whether a green electricity offer also promotes the expansion of renewable energies, you can use trustworthy certifications and seals as a guide. At iSYS, we purchase green electricity that has been certified with the ‘Green Electricity Seal’. This means that it comes exclusively from renewable energies and also promotes their expansion.
