iSYS Hackathon 2026: From challenge to showcase

The iSYS Hackathon will take place in October 2026. During a focused week of work, iSYS teams will develop specific showcases addressing typical challenges associated with digitalisation. At the end of the event, the results will be presented to an external jury and assessed jointly.

How can we develop digital solutions that are not only technically impressive but also create real added value in day-to-day working life? That is precisely what the iSYS Hackathon 2026 is all about.

The focus is on practical use cases drawn from our clients’ environments and projects. Over the course of a week, these are developed into concrete showcases. The aim is not to try out as many ideas or technologies as possible. Rather, the aim is to create solutions that are tailored to real-world requirements and whose potential is immediately apparent and open to discussion.

From the initial idea to the finished showcase

During the hackathon week in calendar week 42, our teams will be working intensively on the selected topics. The decision on which use cases will ultimately be implemented will be made in the run-up to the hackathon.

The task remains the same in every case: to develop a workable and transparent solution to a specific challenge within a short space of time. Alongside the technical implementation, the key question is therefore what added value the solution can offer in practice.

The event will conclude on 16 October 2026 with the presentation of the results at iSYS in Munich. The teams will present their showcases, explain their approaches and answer the jury’s questions.

Feedback from the field

An important part of the hackathon is the external judging panel. Its members draw on their experience of real-world work processes and digitalisation initiatives, and deliberately assess the solutions developed from a user’s perspective.

The focus is on questions such as: Does the showcase solve the actual problem? Does it noticeably improve the workflow? And can the approach be extended beyond this specific use case?

The assessment is based on four criteria: suitability, added value for users, quality of implementation and degree of innovation. On this basis, the jury assesses which approaches iSYS should pursue and develop further.

The schedule for the hackathon final

At the final, the participating teams and the judging panel come together. Following a brief introduction, the showcases created are presented and discussed. The teams then receive feedback on their solutions and the approaches they have chosen.

In this way, the iSYS Hackathon combines focused development work with direct feedback from the field. Over the course of a week, the aim is to turn specific challenges into practical solutions – whilst also generating new ideas on how digitalisation can effectively support work processes.
