iSYS at the CC-Partner Conference 2022
As a long-standing university partner, we will be there again this year with our own stand.
In addition, Christian Fröhler (Head of Software Engineering at iSYS) will be speaking together with Patrick Klinger (Customer Systems Director at IFCO). The presentation on ‘Cloud Lift&Shift’ is a practical report from the first phase of the Cloud Transition Project at IFCO Systems GmbH.

Time: 16:45 – 17:15
Location: Room R0.007
Topic: Practical report: Cloud Lift&Shift

“For IFCO, the cloud is an enabler for digital transformation. As a global platform and digital interface to our customers, MyIFCO can be seen as the initiator for the development of our cloud strategy, as part of which we have opted for Microsoft Azure as a solution. We have successfully migrated MyIFCO and all associated components and services to Azure. In addition, we have realised a Data & Analytics Platform in Azure or with the Microsoft Stack from scratch and have also moved the first important infrastructure services from on-premise to Azure,’ says Patrick Klinger (Customer Systems Director at IFCO).
Depending on the requirements and initial situation, cloud transition projects usually run iteratively in several realisation phases – from an initial lift & shift to a complete cloud native scenario – and follow a clear cloud vision defined in advance. This is also the case with this IFCO project, which we would like to present as a practical report together with the above-mentioned colleagues from IFCO. The first phase of the lift & shift of the affected system components defined in the cloud vision, in this case all non-SAP components, represents the first step towards a cloud-based system landscape, which was carried out on the basis of an agile process model (Scrum).
The planned presentation will cover IFCO’s objectives for the cloud migration, the steps required for the Lift&Shift, the role played by process automation and IT security aspects, the professional and technological challenges that had to be overcome, the experiences made and the lessons learnt, as well as key aspects of the project and the go-live.
Cloud readiness, migration path and cut-over, containerisation, virtualisation, continuous integration, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and DevOps are just some of the keywords that will play a role in the presentation.
