AI as a game changer: iSYS organises event at Munich University of Applied Sciences

Next level coding thanks to AI? Together with selected partner companies, we will be discussing advances in software development through the use of artificial intelligence.

About the event:

Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing software development. It supports developers in code generation, automates tests, optimises software architectures and accelerates modernisation processes. Companies are faced with the challenge of integrating AI in a meaningful way in order to increase efficiency and innovation without sacrificing control and quality. But what is the best way to use it? Which technologies bring real added value and where are the limits?

These questions are at the centre of our event. In keynote speeches and a subsequent panel discussion, we will shed light on current developments and evaluate specific potential applications. The focus will be on AI as a sparring partner in software development and innovative methods such as retrieval augmented generation, which open up new potential for IT modernisation.

In addition to exciting practical insights, the event offers space for dialogue and networking with experts and colleagues from the IT industry. Together, we will take a look into the future of AI-supported software development and discuss opportunities, risks and best practices.

Lecture programme:

The event is divided into four lecture slots. There will be an opportunity for questions and open dialogue between the presentations.

Can opener for AI? Scenarios for software developers (Ulrich Mayring, iSYS Software GmbH)

As a software developer, you are used to having to reinvent yourself every few years. Occasionally, however, you bet on the wrong horse. So what should you do with AI? This keynote speech presents three scenarios in which AI would change the everyday working lives of techies. The good news is that two thirds of them only appear to be disruptive, but can be tackled using the usual methods.

AI against hate speech: How hate speech is being combated with the help of artificial intelligence (Jan Vellmer, Hochschule München / IAMLIS)

How can artificial intelligence help to recognise and effectively combat discrimination and hate speech on social media? The start-up DToxify offers AI-supported content moderation, making the web a safer place. The presentation offers insights into challenges, solutions and the future of community management.

AI in product development – how AI is changing the work of product owners (Lutz Malburg, Novatec Consulting GmbH)

This practical presentation will use ChatGPT to provide an overview of how modern AI systems can support the work of product owners. The focus is on how AI can speed up processes, reduce workload and lead to better quality results. What tasks can AI usefully take on? Could a powerful AI system one day completely replace the role of the product owner? These and other exciting questions will be addressed in the presentation.

RAG in Azure: Architecture, opportunities and challenges (Patrick Thiel, doubleSlash Net-Business GmbH)

Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) combines generative AI with targeted information retrieval – an approach that makes knowledge more precisely retrievable. The presentation will provide an insight into the architecture of RAG in Azure with services such as cognitive search, OpenAI and vector databases. It will also highlight the advantages and disadvantages of this approach, present industry-specific use cases and discuss the added value for research and companies – from better decision-making to IT modernisation.

Panel discussion, buffet & networking

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on the question ‘Man vs. machine: who will develop our software in the future?’.

A free buffet will be available after & during the event. There will also be an opportunity for relaxed networking.
