Review: iSYS as speaker at the conference “Digital. Resilient. Strong.”

More than 80 participants gathered at iteratec GmbH’s premises in Munich to take part in the conference “Digital. Resilient. Strong – How can the holistic transformation in SMEs succeed?”. The event focussed on the question of how SMEs can interlink artificial intelligence, innovation strategy and HR strategies in such a way that they become more digital, resilient and strong in human terms at the same time.
The event was organised by MÜNCHNER KREIS e.V., an independent, interdisciplinary platform that provides orientation for decision-makers from business, science, politics and society in order to responsibly shape the challenges of digital transformation.
Our speakers:
Annika Westphäling (Head of iSYS Academy) and Nadja Abu Shama (Human Resources & PMO) gave a presentation entitled ‘Cycling to the stars – Successful training in IT’.
The presentation explained how iSYS trains young talents such as trainees, working students and career changers in IT in a practical and future-orientated way. The focus was on the iSYS Academy, which facilitates entry into complex IT topics through staged learning formats such as tutorials, projects and in-house training. The metaphor of riding a bicycle was used to show how learners are guided step by step from simple practice to confident navigation in demanding IT environments. A particular focus of the presentation was on self-efficacy, interactive methods and the use of AI-supported learning.
The key takeaways of the conference:
- AI is a tool and remains dependent on humans: Generative AI opens up enormous potential, for example in the automation of language-based tasks or in data-based decision support. However, true innovation, courage, sustainable trust building and contextual understanding remain human domains.
- Technology only works in an organisational context: many AI projects have not yet developed their full potential because the use of AI remains at an individual level. Productivity gains arise when organisational processes and roles are also adapted.
- Transformation requires initiative and a culture of learning: whether in capacity utilisation forecasting, sales or human resources: Successful applications are created where employees have the freedom to experiment with new technologies and decision-makers are prepared to act boldly and quickly. Small pilot projects, clear objectives and iterative implementation are the keys to success.
- Medium-sized companies have particular strengths: short decision-making channels, operationally involved managers and direct customer contact often enable faster implementation than in large corporations. This agility can become a success factor if it is utilised strategically.
